THE SKETCHBOOK PROJECT
Imagine a concert tour, but with sketchbooks. Thousands of sketchbooks will be exhibited at galleries and museums as they make their way on tour across the world.
After the tour, all sketchbooks will enter into the permanent collection of The Brooklyn Art Library, where they will be barcoded and available for the public to view. It was founded in 2006 and anyone - from anywhere in the world - can be a part of the project.
A friend at work (before I retired) was involved in the project and told me about it. I painted my way through my first sketchbook in 2010 and have decided to make it a yearly artistic tradition! In August of 2010, my husband took me to Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida to view The Sketchbook Project! We were able to view many different sketchbooks from hundreds of different artists! It was a great experience and I am both excited and proud to be a part of it.

My first Sketchbook was in 2010. My title or theme was "A day in the life of". With a theme like this I made my book about me, what and how I create art, and who I am.
Illustrations

Many of my Illustrations are either made for Children's books or for my doodles. I call them BobbinDoodle. Just another form of doodling. This one is one of my favorites, (only available in prints). I create a shape of a fish, or bird or any-thing my imagination is working on and then I draw onto paper. After I decide what it is, I create more designs and patterns. After I am sure the ink is dry I paint it with watercolors. Illustrations, are just really colorful drawings, mostly used in books, posters, cards and small art forms. Alligators & dogs were made for a book, but they were re-illustrated. The Ninjas were made for my Grandson. All Bobbin doodles are made for FUN!
Cards are made with Bobbindoodle and representational art work. Seasonal or variety.
Bobbindoodle
In this slide show I have lots of Bobbindoodle ~ Please enjoy!
Mumbo Jumbo

This is Mumbo Jumbo. A Children's book of Poetry and Haiku, written by Deborah Desser- Herchan. (Can be purchased on Amazon) Many of the models I used for illustrations in the book, are my grandchildren or Deborah's son. The little girl on the cover is a reminder of my first granddaughter, Adrianna.
All illustration in this book will always keep my Grandchildren in my eyes. It has also given me the confidence to put the many stories I wrote about Silly Selma on paper. (Words & Illustrations) The same wonderful Grandchildren have also been responsible for lots of Silly Selma stories and inspiration.
