About the Artist
Bobbin is my art name (my Legal name is Marilyn Salisbury) and I am a prolific watercolor artist that also enjoys dabbling with other mediums. I am very eclectic with many forms of art: including Altered books, Illustrations, Bobbindoodles and mixed media. I have also started a children's series of books, Silly Selma. Many presentations of my work have been displayed at local art societies, shows and stores. My newest passion is teaching (both privately, at local studios, I even drive to you!). Sharing my techniques and experience with my students is very rewarding.
My love of nature and being outdoors has always been an inspiration, as you can see in the majority of my paintings. A new adventure, The Lobster Trap Frames, is a perfect pairing of my love of the sea and my transparent watercolor paintings.
I, enjoy membership in Artists of the Palm Beaches, Palm Beach Watercolor Society, and am a Signature Member of the Wellington Art Society. You will usually find me in my studio or traveling with my husband Gary. We rescued a little dog, Lilly, she is adored by our 9 grandchildren.

My Story:
As a child I created with pencils and crayons. Today I paints with Professional Watercolor paints. Using all mediums, even crayons, my love for the vibrancy and unpredictability of watercolor is always my favorite. It was in high school when I began to show some skills. I was accepted into Nassau Community College due to my art, where I went on to win numerous art awards, forming my love of ART.
As my life continued, I fell in love and had 5 children, moved to Florida (from her childhood home of New York) settled into raising my children, which left little time for Art. Not to say, I wasn’t called upon to be the creative mom, Girl and Boy Scouts, after school art teacher, or anywhere else I was needed. It wasn’t until I divorced, , and went back into the workforce did I realize I was missing something. Color, self esteem and a full filling life style. Although I loved and lived for my children, I was very depressed with myself. Working in the retail world was not inspiring, but as I excelled in work I realized I was a women with a lot to offer.....Not just a dreary ole housewife. I was a women who was climbing the ladder of management, and gaining more confidence. I remarried and started to paint again. But I realized my Art self confidence needed rebuilding.
I needed more from my art and the ART world needed me, I just didn’t know it. As a shy person lacking self-worth it was hard for me to get back into the art world. So I enrolled in some local Art Societies, finally took the first step, and began a new journey. It was a small step that led to many more small steps, which evolved into bigger steps. I started to sell my work, enter shows, join other art societies, and even set up a tent in my local community art festivals. As a result, I was becoming more confident. To my amazement I sold my work, even earning some awards and feeling like an ARTIST. This was the beginning of my next chapter .... Bobbinsartwork.
As a member of the Wellington Art Society, I became the 2nd VP for a two-year position where I started to see many other Artists and their struggles, it was then I realized I was not alone. Many Artists have great talent but are afraid to use it or even show it. This little seed started to grow, How can I help myself and others? Then one brave day, as I shopped in our local Art Gallery I asked the gallery owner if she would be interested in selling some of my work. I was astonished when they said YES! (the first day of a true friendship) That was the beginning....but never the end. Not too long after that YES, I was asked if I would teach some Watercolor classes, now I said YES! and the seed started to bloom.
As my life continued, I retired from the retail world and started to paint full time and teach part time. Then one of my 5 children moved out of state, and I began traveling more. I was determined to continue teaching and traveling, but how could I do both? My students didn’t want me leaving them and traveling. I started to see an online career beginning. Unfortunately, I had no idea about the technical aspects of web design. But I was not giving up, slowly I took tutorials, and built a website, I did accept help when needed. I am very proud of this BIG accomplishments. Then COVID started and everyone was in self-quarantine, so getting this school of watercolor classes became first priority. RecolorYourWorld.com was launched! I did it!
I am still entering online shows, connecting my Art with other Art communities, taking some on line classes for myself. Working on completing my Book series of Silly Selma, and continuing to create my Art. I will continue to traveling and start setting up workshops in fabulous destinations.
My business goals are to have fabulous on line classes, 3 day workshops all over the USA....and finally exotic destination workshops for a week or two!!!I
In the mean time you can fine me in my studio with my canine assistant Lilly or on some fabulous vacation with my husband Gary, painting , and painting some more.
